Steps
Stamping/Die Casting Molding > Molding the metal surface to form the design.
Outline Cutting >The lapel pins are die struck from a copper surface. A die is created to imprint your design into the metal. The outline of the pin and any cut-outs are then cut with another mold.
Attachment >Attachment is welded on to the back of each piece
Polishing >The pins are individually hand polished until smooth and shiny.
Plating >Now plating can be processed with various plating.
Coloring >The lapel pins are individually filled by hand with enamel colors and baked to 160 degrees for proper color distribution within each lapel pin design.
Cleaning >Excess color is then wiped off the metal surface.
Baking >The pins are placed in a low heat kiln in order to seal in the colors and achieve superb color separation.
Epoxy Coating >A clear protective epoxy coating (epoxy dome) can then be applied to the surface of your pins to protect the image fading or peeling off or getting scratched.
Inspection >Then each pin is inspected to ensure only the highest quality is individually packaged and send for final inspection.
Copper Stamped with Soft Enamel pins are similar in appearance to original cloisonné pins or imitation cloisonné in that they are also by imprinting your design into a base metal. They are rugged, versatile, and affordable. Soft Enamel is one of our most popular choices for custom pins, it offers a great looking product for a price slightly less than the cloisonné process
What are the differences between Synthetic Enamel, Soft Enamel, and Cloisonne Enamel?
The major differences between these three coloring materials will be in terms of production techniques and color rendering.
Synthetic Enamel is probably the best material to render bright and shiny for colors in a reasonable cost. Colors are leveled evenly to the metal borders and totally flat on the product surface.
Soft Enamel, in general speaking, it is cheaper in cost compare to Synthetic and Cloisonne Enamel. It has a similar color render to Synthetic Enamel but color zones recess and lower than metal borders. Metal boarders are easy to define
Cloisonne Enamel differ Soft and Synthetic Enamel. It is natural mineral substance and melted during heating process. It is not as bright and shiny as Soft and Synthetic Enamel, but the color lasts for hundred of years without destroying on purpose.
Cloisonne Enamel is seldom used in the pin badge industry nowadays
